Whether you’re new to our school or a longtime Career Magnet Academy family, we want to provide the resources you need to achieve success.

This is a central hub for students and families to easily access information for navigating the school and school day, including enrollment, student handbooks, information about schedules, extra curricular activities, and more!

Enrollment

Career Magnet Academy] serves students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.

Students who are zoned for Career Magnet Academy and attended a Knox County middle school for 8th grade are automatically enrolled.

Enrollment for students who are new to the districts must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian.

Daily life

Daily Schedule

Career Magnet Academy]’s school day begins at 9:25  a.m. Students arriving after this time are considered tardy and must check in at the front office. Dismissal begins at 4:25.

Academics

Career Magnet Academy is an Early College High School.

Ninth-grade students learn within the Freshman Academy, building a strong foundation for high school success. These students take AVID to better prepare them for success in dual enrollment classes at PSCC. 

In 10th grade, students who are eligible will take college classes in their Spring Semester. In order to qualify for the college classes they must meet the following requirements:

  • Have earned a 3.0 GPA by the end of 9th grade year
  • Accuplacer score of 250 or higher
  • ACT score of 21

All students graduate with a Diploma+, some an Associate Degree from Pellissippi, some multiple college credits, some a college certification.

Student Supports

The entire staff of Career Magnet High School  is committed to establishing an atmosphere in which children will feel safe, secure, and happy so they maximize their opportunities to learn and achieve. The school has trained counselors and a social worker on staff.

Athletics, Clubs, and Arts

Learning doesn't stop when the school day ends. Career Magnet Academy offers a variety of after-school and extracurricular activities—including athletics, clubs, and performing/visual arts—that give students the chance to build new skills, connect with peers, and explore personal interests.

Library / Media Center

Our library is a hub for student learning, reading, and discovery. In addition to the school library, teachers may maintain individual collections of age-appropriate books in their classrooms to support literacy and foster a love of reading.
